Covered with the lush greenery and filled with the peacefulness, this place is something that one needs to relax in mountains.
Located 285kms away from Delhi, it took us around 7 hours to reach there, which includes two quick refreshment stops. You will find the comfy smooth highway till Dehradun (approx 250Km) after that a roller coaster ride of 35Km (for 2 hours). The property is located in a bit of isolation so keep your navigation handy so that you won’t miss a turn.
I would highly suggest everyone (who do not have the experience of driving in the hilly region) to take along your driver and don’t try to act cool on those narrow-curvy roads.
This property was originally owned by the Nabhas (maharaja) and some 20 years back the Claridges took charge and converted it into a resort. They haven’t changed it much to keep the original character intact. The interior was elegant with a giant chandelier in the middle of the lobby. There were several pictures of the Maharaj family in the lobby. The hotel had two open lawns where you can enjoy your breakfast and unwind yourself in the sun.
Room was decently designed and fully equipped with basic amenities. The rustic interior of the room was complementing the overall aura of the place. I was a little disappointed about the room size. But, I loved having my coffee by the side of my room window in the morning.
Have a look at the Room
The food was the highlight of our stay – simple but tasty. The breakfast and dinner spread was limited in terms of options – very basic items like cereals, uttapam, breadbasket, few curries and nans. But the taste and lawn setting compensated for it. But I would still recommend the hotel to work on their service. It was slow.
Breakfast in the lawn.
You can go for an early Morning Walk or just hit the Mall road for some street food.
